getting all kawaii

We were trying to watch Ponyo last night and 10 minutes into it, the boy found her in the jar, the dvd skipped and we were baffled as suddenly showed all these old people and then Ponyo turned into a girl--yeah I spoiled it. So we tried playing the disc in the PS2 and it worked fine except we all fell asleep. There's a part at the end where it shows this fairy apparition lady who looked remarkably similar to Sharon Apple's evil ghost projection at the end of Macross Plus. I started to google for comparisons but ended up finding all this other cute stuff instead.
